Welcome to AMDRAS

The AMDRAS Board is responsible for the development of Australian mediator accreditation standards and the implementation of the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS).

The AMDRAS Board is pleased to release the new AMDRAS Standards

1 July 2024 marks the start of the transition period from NMAS to AMDRAS.

The NMAS will remain in effect until 30 June 2025, and accredited mediators will be able to re-accredit under this system until this date if they wish.
In the upcoming weeks and months, our Board of Directors will host regular events and actively engage with our member bodies to offer guidance, additional resources, and support as necessary to ensure a seamless transition to AMDRAS for all stakeholders.
All members will receive regular email updates, news and resources as they become available.

How do I renew
my accreditation
this year?

Although AMDRAS starts its transition from 1 July 2024, accredited mediators will be able to renew their accreditation under the existing NMAS rules until 30 June 2025 (during the transition period).
Accredited mediators that are due to renew their accreditation after 1 July 2025, will need to do so under AMDRAS.

When will AMDRAS
renewal requirements
come into effect?

From 1 July 2025, accredited mediators will be required to renew under the AMDRAS standards.
By this date, all Recognised Accreditation Providers (formerly known as RMABs) will have systems and approvals in place to renew mediator accreditation pursuant to AMDRAS.
The option to renew under AMDRAS may become available earlier than 1 July 2025 and you will be advised by your Recognised Accreditation Provider (RAP) if that is the case.

What renewal
requirements change
under AMDRAS?

The existing 2-year renewal period has been retained although the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Practice requirements for each level of accreditation now vary.
AMDRAS Part 4, Division 10 sets out the revised requirements.
These rules will apply after the AMDRAS transition period is complete (1 July 2025).
The requirement for 25 hours of professional development remains with some slight changes to categories and there are changes to practice hour requirements.
